MADE in the 216 TEES Preview…

Hand printed in Cleveland with eco friendly water based inks!  The MADE in the 216 event kicks off this Friday, June 15th at 4pm and lasts through Sunday, June 17th!

It’s THAT TIME OF YEAR again!!!!  As you can see, we here at Dredgers Union/216 HQ are pretty darn excited about it too!

Things are a little different this time around and I for one, cannot wait.  Typically, I create a temporary little retail store out of misc and random furniture and fixtures.  This time, I have challenged a new design/architecture/landscape firm in town, MAKER, to take my typical budget and create a much more contemporary and clean look to house all the eclectic, colorful and whimsical items that we often get for the event.

We are going to be a little 216/retail factory over the next 2 weeks here, troubleshooting ways to house all the BAGILLIONS of amazing CLEVELAND-designed items we will have for sale June 15-17th.

Anyhow, we’ll keep you posted as we get closer, but be sure to save the date.  The party, Friday June 15th will include all our favorite types of shenanigans, including DJ Peter PleasureCruise, and an after party on Greenhouse Tavern’s Rooftop featuring DJ Reena Samaan!

Don’t you just LOVE SUMMER!!!!  ALSO, as long as you’ve got your calendars out…don’t forget to get your tickets NOW for Cleveland Museum of Arts Annual SUMMER SOLSTICE PARTY on June 30th.  Not to be missed this year!  In fact, when you attend 216 you can pick up a great party dress for the occasion!

Dredgers Union Summer 2012 Lookbook – Behind the Scenes

We’re super stoked that we drilled some holes and hung our new seamless with chicken wire in our studio! Tomorrow we’re doing our first ever photo shoot with humans in DU clothing. Yayo!

Here is a shot of Dana working on patterns for the F12 DU Private Label collection in the DU studio.  If you look closely you can see button hole marks, a neckline, and an armhole.  This shirt is going to have mystery pockets in a universe of mysterious mystery.

As more and more pieces from our S12 DU and WRATH ARCANE by DU lines come in, we thought we would start an in-store display project that highlighted some of the details that can be found in specific pieces. Here is Dana putting the finishing touches on our first wall. Yayo.

You in DU: Urban Collegiate

I’ve always been inspired by vintage photographs from Ivy League campuses. Their effortless layering, mixture of prints and textures, and all around cool poise. I used these photos for inspiration for two Dredgers Union “urban collegiate” looks.

The ladies look is a layered, early spring style. Perfect for chilly mornings and sunny afternoons. Start with a good base, like the Shiloh Dress, it has a soft lining and fun skirt. Throw a lightweight flannel tunic on top. Our Dredgers Union Plaid Tunic is the perfect layering piece, and with pockets it’s also incredible practical!

Add a horizontal striped cardigan to mix up the prints, and add that effortless preppy look. Add easy accessories, like a necklace and clear frame sunglasses.

For the guys, I layered some crazy things together to get that easy going, college look. Start with a lightweight short in a fun color, like these RVCA shorts available in the store. Add a long-sleeved shirt, maybe even with a hood. Put a brightly colored plaid over it, this teal Dredgers Union Plaid Woven would work perfectly. Put a loosely tied silk necktie with it, because…why not?

Add a thick hooded sweater, chambray backpack, and geeky readers…and you are ready to go!
