It’s THAT TIME OF YEAR again!!!!  As you can see, we here at Dredgers Union/216 HQ are pretty darn excited about it too!

Things are a little different this time around and I for one, cannot wait.  Typically, I create a temporary little retail store out of misc and random furniture and fixtures.  This time, I have challenged a new design/architecture/landscape firm in town, MAKER, to take my typical budget and create a much more contemporary and clean look to house all the eclectic, colorful and whimsical items that we often get for the event.

We are going to be a little 216/retail factory over the next 2 weeks here, troubleshooting ways to house all the BAGILLIONS of amazing CLEVELAND-designed items we will have for sale June 15-17th.

Anyhow, we’ll keep you posted as we get closer, but be sure to save the date.  The party, Friday June 15th will include all our favorite types of shenanigans, including DJ Peter PleasureCruise, and an after party on Greenhouse Tavern’s Rooftop featuring DJ Reena Samaan!

Don’t you just LOVE SUMMER!!!!  ALSO, as long as you’ve got your calendars out…don’t forget to get your tickets NOW for Cleveland Museum of Arts Annual SUMMER SOLSTICE PARTY on June 30th.  Not to be missed this year!  In fact, when you attend 216 you can pick up a great party dress for the occasion!

So rarely (if ever) do I get political from my business platforms, but I would be remiss if I did not make a point to suggest that whether you come to the Mom & Pop friday from 4-10pm at Dredgers Union or not ( and oh I hope that you do, it is going to be such a cool event and we are so proud of it and so excited for it and want so badly to share it with you all!!!), that you at least go to one of the CLEVELAND MUSIC CLUB COALITION venues Friday night and see live local music in support of stopping the admission tax on live music.

That said, Sean and I are tidying up loose ends, hanging signs, getting ready for the big weekend here and we hope that you are excited too! Because many of your favorite CLE stores – check the list here will be on hand this weekend in one convenient location and with new and SALE merchandise to boot!

Mom & Pop in the 216!

We are so proud of how this event is shaping up. Friday, Feb 10th from 4pm to 10pm and Saturday Feb 11th, 11am to 5pm, come to the Dredgers Union and witness the retail superstars that can truly call themselves “Mom & Pops in the 216″! 13 area retailers under one roof with products ranging from apparel, to jewelry, to home goods, to cameras and beyond.  Vendors will have an assortment of full price merchandise as well as discounted goods.  This event has something for everyone!

Tomorrow is the BIG DAY!  Our 1st annual ROAR ALONG THE SHORE boat party!

TICKETS are available:

• IN STORE at Dredgers Union or Room Service.
• They can be bought online for will call pick up through Friday 5pm at RS’s website.
• Can be purchased at the boat from 8pm – 9pm with cash or credit card
• WILL CALL tickets can be picked up at the ticket sales TABLE outside the boat day of.

Miscellaneous INFO:

• boat boards at 9pm SHARP and the BOAT WAITS FOR NO ONE!
• PARKING: park wherever you would park to go to the Rock Hall, Science Center or Stadium.  The Municipal lot is always a safe bet.
• there are 3 cash bars on board – all take cash and credit cards
• there are concessions available on board for cash and credit card purchase
• the boat party is RAIN OR SHINE
• the boat has 2 floors totally indoors and the top deck is completely open (dressing in layers may be helpful depending on weather)

rock hall ball

What are you doing this Friday September 3r?  I WILL BE AT THE ROCK HALL BALL…and I will tell you why…

I am a Clevelander.  I was proud when the Rock Hall came to Cleveland, and have attended a few exhibits over these last 15 years, as well as many a Wednesday outdoor concert, yet  I have not always felt a tremendous connection to the Rock Hall.

As an Ambassador to this years ROCK HALL BALL celebrating their 15 year anniversary, I have realized that I NEED TO CREATE my OWN connection to it. I am not really one to wait for things to come to me…as they usually don’t!

So I am going to start by celebrating and supporting them at this Friday’s party.

In the future I do hope to see exhibits that appeal more to my generation, like a grunge exhibit or a Brit Pop exhibit…something that I have more of a connection to, but in the meantime, I am going to go to the Rock Hall this Friday and attend an awesome party…not a bad start to our new relationship!
